Notes According to the catalog information, this Qur’an was completed in 1112/1700 by Ahmad al-Nayrizi, one of the most prolific calligraphers in the late Safavid era. Al-Nayrizi is listed among the greatest Iranian teachers of Naqshi calligraphy. The gilding is a later addition and was completed in 1237/1821. The Qur’an is dedicated to Fatih Ali Shah, who was the second ruler in the era of the Qajar state. This is mentioned in the index and is also indicated by the presence of decorative forms resembling his seal found throughout the manuscript.
