This painting probably came from some kind of balcony. Other pieces of the same barrier were found in the ancient capital of the Ghaznavid state: Ghazna. They all show interconnected forms: hunting scenes, women dancing, scenes of battles or competitions, and riding strange animals. This formation of images was increasingly common at the beginning and middle of the Middle Ages in the Islamic world.
