Notes
This wooden panel is decorated with a Kufic inscription containing part of verse 18 of Surah 3 (Surat Al-A'raf). The tails of the letters are slanted, and some of them end in a two-lobed floral decoration. The floor of the inscription is decorated with abstract and relief decoration. The curvature of the tail of the letters Waw and Mim forms a necklace that decorates the empty space created by the copying of the two letters. The letters are artistically crafted, meticulously drawn, and end with a slant. The ocher color surrounding the black letters made them stand out, a technique that would replace inscriptions on carved wood, as was the case in the ceilings of the Great Mosque of Kairouan since the 3rd century AH / 9th century AD.
