Notes In 1559 AD, the inventory of the collection of Archduke Ferdinand II (1529-95 AD) incorrectly attributed this helmet and knight's armor to N. König to Cuba in India in 1788 AD. This gear was added correctly and the collection, for no apparent reason, was determined to belong to a North African naval hero, Dragut Rais, King of Cairo (died in 1565 AD). Although its recent attribution to a Mamluk prince is based on evidence of its similarity to the open helmet (Morion) of Khayrbek, the Mamluk governor of Aleppo (Istanbul, Topkapi Palace Museum), who handed over Syria to the Ottoman Sultan Selim I in the year 1517 and is the most luxurious example of this type of oriental war clothing and armour.
