Notes
This one-page miniature is from 17th-century India and shows a mullah (cleric) with his servant instructing a wealthy student or young prince. A similar drawing was found in the album Ardashir (No Longer Unharmed), which was most likely made during the rule of Muhammad Shah (1719-1748). According to the signature, Prince Dara Shehu (1615-59) was visiting Mian Mir, who was the prince’s tutor, while he was a boy.
