Notes
The precious gown, embroidered with gold, pearls, and enamel, was part of a set of gowns used at the coronation of kings and emperors of the Holy Roman Empire. The semi-circular edge of the robe is decorated with an inscription embroidered with gold, which indicates that the robe was produced in the year 528 AH / 1133/34 AD during the rule of the Norman King Roger II of Sicily (1095-1154 AD) in the royal workshops in Palermo, where other Arab artists worked among the workers. Antique images are shown on the surface of the semi-circular robe: on both sides of a palm tree (which represents... Tree of Life) There is a lion of victory on top of a camel, which has a saddle and bridle and is therefore domesticated.
