Notes The genuine enthusiasm for blue and white Chinese porcelain in Iran since the fourteenth century led to many attempts by Persian potters to uncover the fundamental secret of Chinese porcelain and find ways to replicate the incomparable effects of porcelain. In addition to the dishes and bottles that closely or somewhat imitated Chinese porcelain in images and style, the authentic Iranian style of decorating with cobalt blue arose in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. This dish depicts tigers and birds in the dense jungles of a forest or garden organized in a non-central formation and was probably made in Kerman at the beginning of the eighteenth century.
