Notes
This dagger gives an excellent example of arabesque in Islamic design. The term “arabesque” can be defined in two ways within the context of Islamic design; The arabesque, as a decorative element, consists of a long stem, from which separate, palm-shaped leaves branch. On the other hand, and to a greater extent, the word “arabesque” is used to refer to a complete, repeating group of identical designs, similar in style, that are inspired by flowers, leaves of plants, and animals. To add an aesthetic dimension consistent with the ideal organization of nature’s reality. “Arabesque” patterns are widely used in Omani craftsmanship; Where you can see in wood, plaster, and metal industries; It may be used to cover surfaces completely, or in specific shapes within a precise geometric framework.
