Notes
This bowl is for short spears of knights (dschirid) and includes a high cylindrical case made of damask cloth embroidered with arabesques and crescent moons in gold and red silk. Among the purely decorative motifs is a tulip flower with red embroidered petals. The short spears stored in this container were originally used by Ottoman fighters in both battles and in equestrian games, which were thrown at targets by a fighter mounted on a galloping horse.
