| Notes | Bab al-Banad, also called Burjfuka, was built during the rule of al-Nasir (454-481 AH / 1062-1088 AD) at the same time as the other five doors of the wall that protected the city. Bab al-Banad, with its hexagonal towers and two gates in the shape of a pointed arch, controlled the communication routes with the interior of the country. Not far from it, stood the “Showfal Riyadh” (Garden Observatory), which was also called “The Lighthouse” because it was used as a signal tower. |
