Notes
The piece is a pottery raindrop, also called a Zamzamiya because it was filled by pilgrims with Zamzam water in Mecca. This type of emollient is creamy in colour. These raincoats are made in two parts, each of which has a mold. They are then joined together, and then the neck and handles are added. This raincoat was provided with a plait-shaped decoration to hide the place where two parts connect together. Such mold-made raincoats feature relief decorations representing the crests or crests of senior officials usually associated with the official Ayyubid or Mamluk court. This raindrop appears as a lily flower surrounded on all sides by a sword, and it represents the emblem of many sultans and princes at that time.
