Notes The production of what are known as painted gloss/glaze vessels, developed in Nishapur, is characterized by the decoration obtained by means of liquid clay colored by green, yellow, purple and manganese applied to a satin/glossy colored surface and coated with a transparent glaze. The decorations were strongly influenced by Sassanid iconography, which includes figures of knights, horses, hunting scenes, mythical animals, and birds depicted within a richly decorated space.
