Notes
This piece was found with a group of glass tiles in the southern wing of the official reception hall No. 9 in Palace B in the Raqqa region, which extends from the east of the Euphrates River to its tributary, the Balikh. The floor of this hall was covered with glass tiles. The hall floor was first covered with a thick layer of plaster, on which green glass tiles were placed. Each tile has a grooved bottom surface embedded in the plaster, while the upper surface is smooth but undulating to prevent slipping. This piece is part of one of the glass tiles with its plaster base. The Abbasid era was characterized by wealth and luxury. We often hear that the luxurious, distinguished and unique palaces used to cover their floors with glass. Palace B is one of those palaces.
