Notes
The piece is a round-bottomed bowl, the lid is almost flat, and the surface of the bowl has a wide band of medallions and plaques surrounding the sides. The medallions are composed of lines and arabesques braided in the form of relief lines inlaid on top with silver, and the panels are defined by silver lines inlaid on top in a similar manner. There are three alternating lines, one of which contains an inscription. On the bottom of the bowl is a six-pointed star at the center of a design of medallions connected by raised silver lines. The entire surface between the medallions and panels is covered with a variable vine design in relief, which was made by chisel tapping on the ground. On the edge of the bowl there is a narrow border of a continuous, winding pattern. The other narrow border at the bottom of the frame is a continuous vine with alternating patterns with three flat panels surrounding an intricate star design in silver lines. The entire surface between the lines of the patterns is covered with fine vine patterns. The inscription reads: The work of the teacher Mahmoud Al-Kurdi Ibn Hafat, may God forgive him.
