Notes The size and unrepeated pattern of this archaeological depiction of a woman standing in a lobed arch make it unique. These fabrics were first woven and initially by the Safavid weavers in Iran who were known for making these technically unparalleled fabrics, but we know from the biography of Akbar, the Great Mughal, that in about 1600 the Indians reached the same level of technical skill.
