Notes This specially shaped carpet belongs to a group of exquisite Indian carpets that are characterized by a curved trapezoidal shape, sheep's wool pile, and rows of natural flower bouquets positioned towards the left, upper and right edges of the carpet. Such carpets are attributed to Lahore or Kashmir and generally date to the reign of Shah Jahan (reigned during 1628-66). Some researchers have suggested that these carpets were placed around a fountain or throne, and others have said that they were used to furnish tent complexes.
