| Notes | This pair of doors has a symmetrical geometric design with star or polygonal panels, each decorated with arabesques. There are two panels bearing an inscription in Arabic specifying their Christian origin from a church in Cairo, as they are excerpts from the Gospel (Luke 2:14 and Hymn 44:10). A similar example is the doors of the pulpit in the Saleh Tala’i Mosque, which dates back to the year 1299 (699 AH). |
