Notes
The object is a circular acetate (smooth, slippery pottery) bowl with a thin, flat lid and a handle in the shape of a wing ear that has a mushroom-shaped section in the centre. Around the outside of the lid is a band of transverse striation and another band of the same width that intersects the diameter of the lid. This band is also slit transversely in half up to the intersection with the handle, after which it becomes transparent and filled only with raised reliefs, and below that it covers the remaining surface of the lid. The bowl has straight sides with upper and lower borders of transverse striation, which surround a band of bas-reliefs. The base is engraved to form a relief Arabic inscription in an angular calligraphy style, such as Kufic. The top of the longer letters ends with leaves and flowers, a common 10th-century design motif, and on the opposite sides of the bowl there are rod-like handles with a deep formation on their outer edges. The area where each handle connects to the bowl is defined by a cross-cut.
