Notes The piece is made of wood and decorated with relief carving. The decoration consists of a vase from which emerge two thick plant branches, one of which goes upward to the left, then bends to the right, twists in a circular motion, bends downward, and ends with a five-lobed grape leaf. From this branch emerge branches, some of which end with a leaf or a bunch of grapes. As for the other branch that comes out of the vase, it goes up to the right and then deviates to the left until it meets the first branch, and when they meet, they form a circular shape pointed at the bottom. Branches and leaves branch out from this branch, and one of the branches ends with a leaf and a bunch of grapes. The piece shows the characteristics of the Hellenistic style, such as anthropomorphism, closeness to nature, and varying levels of decoration and decorative elements known in this style, which are the features that characterized the decorations of the Umayyad era. This piece reminds us of the mosaic decorations in the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem and the decorations of Qasr al-Mushta in the Jordanian Desert.
