Notes
The piece is a complete door knocker with a domed and grooved back, with a circular back plate irregularly perforated around the circumference and bounded by false rivets in the form of unfilled screw heads. The middle area of the disc is filled with elaborate Arabic inscription on an arabesque ground, with braided decorative borders at the top and bottom, all inlaid with silver. The carafe itself is octagonal in shape, with eight double-branched ridges, the ends of which curl slightly above it. The surface is decorated with a scroll of vines inlaid with silver. The central piece from which the carafe is suspended protrudes from a rectangular base attached to the plate. The front surface of this centerpiece is cut with three horizontal curved teeth. The lower areas of the carafa are significantly more eroded than the rest of the piece. The lower end of the cara is filed and polished.
