Notes
The piece is an Iznik ceramic bowl with a white glazed ground, a curved rim and a wide frame with a special rock and wave decoration pattern. Cloud-shaped areas of white glass alternate with clusters of royal blue glass circles filled with delicate dark spiral designs. There are also evenly spaced wing-like decorations in turquoise glaze. The main floor of the bowl is glazed in the shape of a cypress tree. The long, vertical cypress in the shape of gray-green glass is surrounded by intertwined paper stems bearing dark blue blooming flowers and frames with a rust-colored collar and long sprinkles of blue blooming flowers. The outer surface of the plate is also made of white glass and is decorated with alternating pairs of blue tulips and blue rosettes with turquoise centers.
