Notes The earring forms part of a matching pair in the form of a hoop, and is distinguished by a semicircle of solid gold, ending at both ends with two hollow balls of twisted gold, separated by four threads of also twisted and braided gold. The four balls are of different sizes. The two located in the upper part of the earring are smaller, while the other two, which are larger, enclose a medallion representing a simplified face, where the mouth, nose, and eyes are indicated by twisted circles, and the eyebrows are indicated by two semi-circles that meet at the level of the nose. The earring decoration continues with two solid balls, surrounding a central ball made of gold thread and hollow, but it is elliptical in shape, and this block ends with a pendant. The skill of the jeweler is evident in the pieces made with a very thin, yet very resistant, gold thread, with no visible way to hang the piece. The manufacture of this earring appears to be Iranian, and we find clear similarities in it to similar pieces of jewelry whose origin goes back to Gorgan. However, it is necessary to note the similarities with Syrian and Egyptian earrings dating back to the same period.
