Notes This plate is a model on which a picture of two lovers is depicted. The remaining surface of the plate is covered with a delicate decoration representing plants, flowers, and palm trees. It is well-known in the Persian city of Kashan, which excelled in the manufacture of ceramics. Around the outer edge of the plate we find an inscription that may be a supplication, but it is illegible due to age.
