Notes This wall panel made of tile/tile has a square shape and, like other types of tile mosaic, consists of finely cut and assembled fragments, decorated only with geometric shapes (underlining). The star polygon, obtained by dividing the circle into equal parts, dominates its organized layout - the panel -. The recurring decorative element, which constitutes the basic element of adornment, consists of a complex decoration of multi-colored meshes, dominated by black and turquoise blue, on an ivory white background. The lattices with black sections emanating from a center occupied by a twelve-pointed star, through their overlapping with other lattices with turquoise blue sections, generate a floret surrounded by unequal five-pointed stars, and expand to draw around the floret, through interlocking with a second black section, a square dotted in its corners with eight-pointed stars. Within this square, a serrated and ochre-yellow band defines the floret, while the two concentric polygons, painted in green, almond and black, surround the square's corner shapes. This complex design, with its beautiful harmony in terms of the outline of the geometric elements and the level of their color gradations, requires a deep knowledge of geometric shapes and their interconnection. This work of extreme precision demonstrates the extraordinary ability to innovate and the technical skill in the art of ceramics inherited from the Marinid decorators.
