Notes The two pages of the Qur’an were written by Iranian teachers in the fifteenth century AD and are of exceptional importance. The style of handwriting as well as the decorative decoration indicate that the manuscript was written in Herat, the capital of the Timurid state (now within Afghanistan). The two pages on display include Surahs of the Qur’an, No. 87 (the highest), No. 88 (Al-Gashiya), No. 90 (Al-Balad), No. 91 (The Sun), No. 92 (the night).
