| Notes |
The piece is a pair of panels with arabesques made up of two flowered strands braided together at two levels. This type of arabesque with elongated leaves appeared during the twelfth century, and an example of it can be found in the portable mihrab of the Sayyida Nafisa Mosque dating back approximately to the year 1145-1156. But the complex symmetrical structure of the decoration is also reminiscent of the minbar from the Sultan Lajin Mosque (969 AH / 1296 AD). |
