Notes The Qur’an is written on deer skin, in gold calligraphy and a dark brown frame in seddish ink. On the page are seen verse 3 of Surah Al-Ikhlas (No. 112) and Verse 1 of Surah Al-Falaq (No. 113). The two verses are written in a rich gold border and covered with dark brown ink. There are no signs of diacritics, and diacritics appear as red or black dots. The only evidence of the beginning of a new surah is the basmalah (formula "In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful"). Each verse ends with three italic lines. The pages of the Qur’an are framed by wide margins drawn with fine lines. As for the rectangles formed by the lines of the margins, they form interconnected sections, and their wide spaces are filled with decorations in the form of thin spiral parts of trellis plants with leaves and flowers. Only five pages remain of this Qur’an, which was completed in the 3rd-4th / 9th-10th century in Iraq or Syria. It must have been made for an important mosque or ruler, since it was written in richly decorated script.
