Notes
The pulpit consists of a platform with two doors at its base and is accessed by a staircase. This pair of doors probably came from the pulpit of the Emir Sayf al-Din Qawsun Mosque in Cairo. The furnishings in the mosques of Cairo, especially during the Mamluk era (1250-1517), were decorated with intricately made polygons. This pair of doors shows a great variety of patterns, most of which are also found in other mediums such as window grilles of carved stone, marble mosaics, and plaster. Precise cutting is required to make these typical pieces noticeable so that each piece reflects the whole.
