Notes
The image of the cloth is of Our Lady, Mother of Victories (Nicopoeia), carrying the Christ Child, whose arms are extended in the position of the crucifixion. Fabrics with Christian images were woven in the Ottoman Empire for church clothing for the Orthodox community and were exported, and Russia was an example of this. The image of Christ is framed by plants of Ottoman origin, such as tulips and mountain sultans.
