Notes
This marble panel is closely related to the decorated bas-relief facades and columns of the Madinat al-Zahra Palace. The city was built in the second half of the tenth century for Caliph Abd al-Rahman III, but it was destroyed in 1010. Because of their very high quality, the city's building materials have been reused throughout southern Spain.
