Notes A bulbous cob, with an elegant twisted handle and a small mouth; It constitutes a model of the Syrian ceramic industry known, to some extent, in the seventh/thirteenth century. The body of the cob is decorated with horizontal bands of brown stripes. Unfortunately, the clear glaze has eroded to the point that it now obscures the overglaze paintings. The style of this vessel is very striking from an artistic point of view, thanks to its strong association with glass and metalwork. The bulbous shape of its main body and neck, as well as the twisted fist, appear in contemporary glassware; The exquisite decorative lines surrounding the body of the cup are reminiscent of the contemporary art of metal inlay in both Iraq and Iran.
Sample Text Noorah Al-Gailani, Noorah Al-Gailani “Cuz” within Discover Islamic Art. Museum Without Borders, 2026. https://islamicart.museumwnf.org/database_item.php?id=object;ISL;uk;Mus04;14;ar
