Notes
This album contains samples written by one of the most famous Turkish calligraphers, Sheikh Hamdallah (died in 1519), who developed the Naksha style and the third from teachers in the past to suit the Ottoman taste. These pages, which show control, precision, and gentle flow, but also exaggeration in some letters, constitute a living rhythmic model and show the calligrapher’s stage of maturity. The texts are from the hadith, which is a collection of the words of the Prophet Muhammad and his sermons, which are an important source of moral and legal guidance in Islamic law. On each page, there are many lines in small script (nakshi), framed by one or two lines of larger script (thuluth) or muhaqqiq, and then pasted onto pages of marbled paper, which was developed in Türkiye and became much preferred for planning work.
