Notes
A panel of four tiles and twelve rods, painted in cobalt blue on a white background; The first pieces are decorated with flowers with blue petals and white edges; The second group was decorated with stylized Moorish plants and ribbons bearing an explanation in small Gothic letters: “Doing good.” In the corners and in the middle of the sides of the painting, eight triangular pieces decorated with stylized plants are inserted, three of which have a strip section, similar to the strips of rods. It is actually the ends of these rods that have been cut to give them this triangular shape; On some, part of the floral decoration remains, and on others, part of the bands. The painting currently ends with a row of smooth, blue-coloured tiles that serves as a frame. Initially, this painting belonged to the decoration of the Church of Sant Jeronimo in the Concepción Franciscana in Toledo. The repeated text of the strips is an example of the way in which the potters of Manises, during the Mudéjar period, reinterpreted traditional decorative designs based on inscriptions.
