Notes
This bowl depicts an enamel portrait of Fath Ali Shah Qajar, Emperor of Persia (1797 - 1843 AD). It is signed by the artist, Gholam Khanitzad and dated 1233 AD. Until his death in 1834 AD, Fath Ali Shah Qajar hoped to establish an alliance between Persia and Austria. This bowl may have been sent to Emperor Francis I in connection with these efforts.
