Notes Imam Saif bin Sultan Al Arabi I (Land Restriction) is attributed to one of the possessions of Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur (may God rest his soul). Imam Saif bin Sultan Al Arabi I, the fourth of the Ya’aribah Imams (rule of the period between: 04-1123 AH / 1692-1711 AD), and was titled Land Restriction because he was able to preserve the state and its properties at home and abroad, and spread justice and stability among the people. He was taken as the Imam. Rustaq Castle was the seat of his rule, where he added the Wind Tower, and the Omani Navy reached a great degree of development during his reign, as the Imam’s foreign policy was based on renewing the conflict against the Portuguese to extend to the coasts of Iran, India and East Africa, where the Omani naval fleet attacked Mombasa, the most important stronghold of the Portuguese in East Africa, and imposed a siege on Jesus Castle in the year (1110 AH / 1698 AD) and lasted for (33) months. Before controlling it, in what became known as the Battle of Mombasa. With its fall, Omani influence expanded until it reached Pemba, Kilwa, and Zanzibar. In internal matters, the Imam was concerned with developing agricultural activity, by digging new falaj and maintaining some old falaj. He also expanded the cultivation of crops such as wheat, barley, and sugar cane, planting palm trees and fruit, and introducing new varieties of plants such as: rose, saffron, and coffee, in addition to paying attention to beekeeping.
