Notes
Minai means enamel in Persian and the term refers to this type of colored decoration of pottery which is located on both the inside and outside of the glass and here it has been enriched with gold. Like lusterware, it had to be fired twice and was therefore expensive. The figures depicted are Turkic-Mongol, which is commonly found in all Persian art of the time and which reflected the class-ethnic outlook of the ruling elite.
