Notes
A pharmacy vessel, with a base mounted on a pedestal; It has a round body, slightly concave, and a high, slightly obtuse neck. The surface is decorated with gilded metallic patterns on a white tin background. From top to bottom, we notice first a frieze with a geometric decoration consisting of stylized rhombuses. Secondly, a record of flowers and spirals on a white background; Finally, a part with vertical edges and parallel diagonal grooves in blue and gold. In addition to the stylistic arrangement of this vessel by researchers referred to below as a product of Massenes, recent analyzes of the metals used in its decoration, in particular cobalt, which gives it its blue color, have provided information about its Valencian origin. In contrast to the Malaga vessel, which is very light in color, the intense blue hue remains characteristic of this region. This type of vessel was used to store pharmaceutical products. On the other hand, we call them “utensils for pharmacy,” which is the science in which Muslims excelled.
