Notes This molded flask belongs to a group of similar examples produced during the 17th century in Isfahan, Iran. One end of the flask depicts a woman playing a tambourine and the other a seated princess watching a woman dance. These scenes of court entertainment are common in a body of Safavid art (1501-1722) that includes door tapestries, naves and half-scale frescoes in palaces.
