Notes
This building is considered a model of agencies in the Mamluk era, which included warehouses, shops for selling goods, and places for merchants to reside. The facade of the building overlooks Bab al-Nasr Street, and it is divided into three horizontal levels, with the entrance located in the middle. On either side of the entrance, there are five shops, each of which is surmounted by a lattice made of lathe wood, and topped with a row of windows equipped with grilles made of iron grilles. The entrance consists of a recessed wall containing the door opening, and a trefoil arch that rises to the level of the window openings on either side of the entrance. The spandrel of the arch is decorated with floral decorations engraved in stone, and in the upper two corners of the arch there is a prominent stone ornament consisting of two rows of muqarnas. Above the door arch is an inscription band engraved in Mamluk third script explaining the reason for building the building. In general, the entrance to the agency resembles the entrance to the Qaytbay Madrasa in the Mamluk cemetery in Cairo. The horizontal plan of the building consists of a rectangular courtyard surrounded on the ground floor by a group of warehouses topped by three floors that included residential units for merchants to reside.
