Notes
A square marble plate representing the right part of an epitaph in Kufic script in deep carving. On it are two lines of monolithic Kufic writing, surrounded by a wide, satin border. There is a fine fracture on the left side, which leads us to assume that this fracture is where the next plate attaches. The incomplete text is part of an inscription engraved on the tomb that begins with the phrase “Yahya used to do that...” in the top line, and in the second line he mentions the month of death, “Jumada al-Akhirah.” As for the Sunnah, only the number “three” remains. Therefore, it was not possible to know the date accurately. The Kufi script is characterized by a close, blocky formation of all letters on straight lines. The tails of the letters also increase in thickness towards the top in a conical shape. The special feature is the coiled shape of the tails of the letters Lām Alīf.
