Notes
The century (10 AH/16 AD) was the most prolific in producing mihrabs. Professors appeared in this field, such as Abdullah bin Qasim Al-Manhi, as well as the family of Mesham Al-Manhi, whose son, Talib, and his grandson, Ali, worked after him in the same field. Talib bin Mushamal Al-Manhi, who built the mihrab of the Grand Mosque in Nakhl, the Al-Mazraa Mosque, and the Al-Sarooj Mosque in Samail, built the mihrab of the Al-Awaina Mosque in the year (970 AH / 1562 AD). The mihrab is rich in decorations, fine inscriptions, and inscriptions taken from the Holy Qur’an, and with information about who built it, designed it, and undertook it. The upper part of the mihrab contains the phrase “The Two Testimonies,” in Kufic letters, and in the rectangular outer frame there are thirty seals engraved with floral shapes. The cavity of the mihrab is located recessed in the inner frame, and above it is a rectangle with an inscription distributed in two triangles on Its upper part, and in the middle there are three plates of glazed Chinese pottery.
