Many features are similar to Iranian pieces, including case-making and the fine roughening that covers most of the domes. An earlier date is assumed for this piece due to the apparent absence of openwork decorative elements used in Fatimid jewelry. Similar belt elements were found in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon in Mamluk hoards and other later jewelry.
