Notes
The piece is a twelve-sided yellow brass box with silver and gold inlay and a lid with a central hemispherical dome on the surface. The lid is decorated in relief with interlaced geometric and vegetal patterns separated by flat/simple zigzag bands. The band has kneeling figures and the dome is surrounded by a stepped, twisted area, surrounded by a second, wider twisted step, with the twisting points facing each other in position. This wider step has the same incised decoration, and the lid tapers slightly around the bottom flat lip of the bottom and is connected to the box by a thin band of patterned braid. The upper lip has the same type of raised background decoration, and the bands are separated by bands of zigzag. The rings contain people seated and cross-legged, and the box rests on a convex bottom. There is some kind of corrosion and abrasion on the entire surface of the case. The upper surface of the dome has a prominent hole and some metal has been folded over the surface (this was the contact point for the grip. There is a ring that appears in older photos of the piece, but it has since been removed. Also, the area on the side of the lid appears to have a small metal plug representing some sort of repair.
