Notes Ferdowsi's epic poetry (The Shahnameh/Book of Kings) was completed in 1010 and recounts the history of all Iranian shahs (kings) up to the Arab invasion of Persia in 642 AD and the country's conversion to Islam. It has been inspired by numerous illustrated copies. The present page shows Rustam's brother Zaffara and this page was cut from a copy known as the Shahnameh with the Big Head. This name refers to the special feature of most of her paintings: the large heads. For its human characters.
