Notes
This dish from Manises from the 16th century is among the most unique examples preserved in the DDFIA collection. It depicts a lone jumping deer (or goat), whose general outlines are etched into the ceramic body. Other bowls similarly engraved with lions, bulls, birds, and rabbits are known to exist but were more common for the lower ends of Manises dishes, which depict larger birds and animals.
