Notes
The miniature portrait of Fath Ali Shah is signed by Baqir, a multi-purpose enamel painter who produced high-quality works for the Qajar dynasty. He signed the miniature portrait as a slave, Ould Fayt Baqir, who emphasized his role as the royal workshop craftsman. In this miniature, Fath Ali Shah is depicted as a relatively young man with a short beard and connected eyebrows. He is richly dressed and wears many necklaces, bracelets and a long astrakhan hat decorated with ornaments, which were probably spoils from the Mughal kunwar in Delhi. To the left of the portrait there is a teardrop-shaped decorative element bearing the inscription: “Fath Ali Shah Qajar.”
