Notes Yagmurassen (632 - 633 to 681 / 1235 - 1234 to 1282) began building the Al-Mashwar (citadel), which later became the official residence of the Banu Zayan. In fact, all that remains of the building are the walls and, inside, the mosque, the construction of which was completed in the year 717-718 AH / 1317-1318 AD by Abu Hammu Musa I. The mosque hall does not have a courtyard, and it performed various functions, and was used in particular as an annex to the military hospital and as a Catholic chapel during the colonial period. The minaret preserved its dimensions as well as the decorations of its four facades: panels with columns and a group of decorative bands on a background of mosaics made of glazed ceramic squares (zellij).
