Notes
Al-Kitab is an educational facility in which children learn to memorize the Holy Qur’an, the principles of the Arabic language, and arithmetic. The book in front of us consists of two sides and a roof. The first side consists of a door with geometric decorations executed in an assembly style. To the left of the door there are four cupboards, two on each side, separated by a deep niche in which the teacher was sitting. The doors of the cabinets are decorated with geometric decorations consisting of parts of a star plate executed in the same style used in door decoration. On both sides of the niche, and at the top, there are twenty-nine small niches with articulated arches that were used to store school tools. At the bottom of this side of the book there is a seat with grouped decorations, and this side is surrounded at the top by a rectangle containing seven lathe fillings of various shapes, separated by fillings of spokes also latheed. The second side of the book consists of two cabinets with decorations similar to the decorations of the previous cabinets. They are surrounded by twelve niches and to their left is an undecorated door. As for the ceiling, it is decorated with geometric shapes consisting of parts of a star plate executed in the style of a cloud, and at the bottom there is a frame of stalactites. The book contains parts that have been recently completed.
