Notes
The great Turkish scholar Piri Reis reserved a high place for himself in the history of science with his very valuable work called Bahriye. XVI. Since there is no such scientific and perfect description of the Mediterranean in the 19th century, world experts always refer to this book. A piece of world map discovered recently in Topkapı Palace has greatly increased Piri Reis' scientific value. As the oldest map of America, this map aroused great interest in the scientific world and many articles were written about it. This time, a second nautical map of Piri Reis was found in the Topkapı Palace Library, and this map is a very valuable work worth paying attention to.
