Writing: Beautifully written, short shot of a manuscript, Contents: Very old, beautifully written and collated manuscript of the spiritual speeches of the famous orator Ibn-Nubāta. He was a pulpit speaker in Aleppo and socialized with Mutanabbī and others at the court of Prince Saif ad-Daula. The sermons are written in cadenced prose. Sermons from his son, grandson and great-grandson are included from slide 170 onwards. The glosses in the margin are based on a note by the copyist of Taǧ ad-Dīn al-Kindī. On the last sheet from another hand, also old, a list of the sheikhs to whom these Ḫuṭab were read, dated manuscript, old signature: Quatremère 299, BSB provenance: Étienne Quatremère (1782-1857)
